Up Close With A Luxurious, Sustainable Brand: Rangel

Tell us a bit about your approach

When starting Rangel, I set out to create a label that was everlasting, powerful, and bold. I really wanted to capture the essence of a woman who is well cultured and is continuously inspired to travel around the world. When designing, my approach is always to make the pieces seasonless and multifunctional. Each collection builds on the story I want to tell about who I am, the women I want to inspire, and the aesthetic I want to embody. Every textile, finishing and elements to the packaging always has sustainability at the core and is of the highest quality on the market.

What was the inspiration for your newest collection?

The newest collection was inspired by my love of vintage and how we could take that into the modern day. When I was brainstorming how I envisioned this collection would come to life, I began thinking about the silhouettes that would become key pieces to the brand’s aesthetic. I knew that I wanted to create this collection to represent the bold, colorful, and confident Rangel Woman. We experimented with the colors and prints of this collection to reflect an eclectic mix of modern pops of color with nostalgic prints, reminiscent of vintage furniture finds. I really wanted to incorporate interesting fabrication textures to the pieces for that extra element of design. All of the pieces in this collection were designed for the customer to mix and match and wear from day to night.

Do you have any favorite pieces?

They’re all my favorites, but if I had to choose a standout piece of the collection it would have to be the Madrid Silk Shirt and the Marbella Silk Pants. When I laid eyes on this fabric in the development phase, I knew instantly what I wanted to create with this 100% sustainable silk jacquard made in Italy. I fell in love with the way the fabric looked and felt and wanted to create an easy going set that could be worn on any occasion. For me, style is all about functionality, so when I saw this fabric I knew that lovers of the brand would appreciate these chic silks pieces!

How did you decide to work with JOOR?

When we started to explore wholesale, we knew we wanted to be a part of a platform like JOOR that could offer us a community of the best retailers worldwide. JOOR is a great place to showcase a brand like ours, where retailers can see the overview of what we have to offer all in one place.

Any big plans for the future?

Our plans for the future of Rangel include continuing to share our message, to expand worldwide, and to progress in our efforts to take care of our planet from the fashion space. As we grow, we will introduce new categories to our offerings that will provide the Rangel woman with a fresh perspective on her closet and the way she presents herself to the world.

What would you say to aspiring designers and people starting out in the industry?

To aspiring designers and people starting out in the fashion industry, my biggest message would be to stay true to your vision. Decide as a designer what the message is that you want to put out into the world and work consistently and cohesively to bring that vision to life.
